Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the
cornerstones of Chinese Medicine. It is the use of thin, sterile needles, inserted
at specific points on the body in order to treat disease. It has been practiced
with great success for thousands of years and can be used to treat an incredibly
wide range of conditions with a high success rate. Acupuncture can stop pain, boost
your energy, improve digestion, enhance sleep, balance emotions, strengthen the
functioning of your internal organs, and much more. The needles are small and
typically painless on insertion and we only use the sterile, disposable kind. The
treatments themselves are very soothing and patients usually leave feeling
more relaxed. Acupuncture works with your chi, of life force, to balance emotions
and improve the overall functioning of your body.click here for more information
Osteopathy
Osteopathic
Manual Medicine (OMM) directly manipulates the structures of the
musculo-skeletal (MSK) system: muscles, bones, fascia, tendons, and
ligaments. Techniques used include myofascial release, muscle energy,
craniosacral, and select muscle strengthening and stretching.
Imbalances in the complex MSK system can create a host of physical
problems and complaints, which literally can extend from head to toe.
Most of us are familiar with and have experienced the results of these
imbalances, commonly occurring in the form of headaches, back pain,
neck pain, and chronic pain or stiffness of the muscles or joints. Many
of these problems can arise from old injuries which were never
diagnosed or properly treated. click here for more information
Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine is the use of medicinal
plants to treat disease. People on all continents have used plants for the
treatment of ailments since prehistoric times. The earliest evidence for the use of
plants as healing agents is paintings discovered in the Lascaux caves in France,
which have been radiocarbon-dated to between 13,000-25,000 BC. Even today herbal
medicine is a major component in all traditional healing systems. The World Health
Organization estimates that 80 percent of the world's population presently uses
herbal medicine for some aspect of primary health care. Many of the pharmaceuticals
currently available to physicians have a long history of use as herbal remedies. A
recent survey by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine
found that, at 18.9 percent, herbal therapy is the most commonly used Complimentary
and Alternative Medicine therapy in the United States.click here for more information
Massage
Massage is the manual manipulation of soft
body tissues in order to enhance health and well being. Medical research has shown
that massage can reduce acute and chronic pain, hasten healing from trauma or
injury, improve posture and flexibility, relax muscles, and enhance sports
performance. It can increase relaxation and decrease stress, anxiety, and
depression. It can even have a positive affect on certain medical conditions like
high blood pressure and insomnia, and increase immune function. It has been
proposed that massage works by blocking pain perception, activating the release of
endorphins and serotonin, preventing formation of scar tissue, and increasing the
flow of lymph and blood.click here for more information
